Yak Cast 30 “The 10 MMO Commandments”

Preach on Brotha lol – the 10 Commandments were great. I found myself nodding in agreement to pretty much all of it.

EQ1 was the best. As I’ve mentioned before I’ve been playing MMO’s for years…since Ultima Online. I actually went from UO to EQ and that was a HUGE breath of fresh air. EQ was great to look at, challenging, and balls-to-the-wall. (Well it used to be, anyway).

Back when I played EQ, not only was there an experience penelty…you had to bind in a city (which is fine)… however, when you died you didn’t start back at the city with all your gear, ready for the next run…oh no…you go back to the city you were bound at, butt ass naked and had to walk your happy ass to your “corpse” to retrieve your items. This wasn’t that big of a deal when you were new. But when you were out in Velius, soloing (or even grouping) Wyverns and one of them got a lucky strike…you were done. You would have to go back through a mob-filled dungeon without anything just to get your body.

After playing EQ, everything else is a cakewalk.

I actually did have a minor problem with the mass amount of expansions, because I began to think of it as a money sink. Since we were already spending 15.00 a month to play the game, why do we have to spend another 30.00 every couple of months for an expansion pack?

I still miss the old EQ, though…

People talk about the pussification of America (censorship and suing for every little thing)…I call this the pussification of MMO Gaming.
