Yak Cast 21 “Samius is a DDO Fanboy”

I will say this about the whole wall thing. I think it would have been better without partnering from SuperRewards. I remember that company from back in the day and it was a bad experience. I am glad they listened to the players on this one. I dont blame them for trying new venues but they need to do better homework on it. But the way people were acting I finally told them its embarrassing stop trying to be right pick a freaking forum winner and lets move on. They bloody apologized for Pete’s sake. Some people just like to get digs no matter what though.

I agree with Lessah and Samius about the reason many have stuck around. Even with 17 alts, I have yet to capp all the classes, and only have one character that truly has done most if not all the quests. I have hopes that guild housing and other time sinks that are added will be enough for me to have outlets when im not in the mood to level up.

All in all good interview seriously I like the way Samius answered questions it really is easy for people to loose sight on how things work for a game company or as I call them the armchair developers. I know that when I suggest an Idea I go from a business standpoint almost 95 percent of the time unless its something that I just frivolously want lol we all have those..right? hehe good cast though love the little commercial interrupts to. Now reading the comments about Samius I dont think he was being a dick at all. Many times people get passionate about the game and think in emotional perspective. There are others who look at it as it is. I know I get emotional and it takes a poster who is not that way to make me see “oh man Kal’s over blown it again.” I dont think of him as a fanboi a fan boi is someone who sees absolutely nothing wrong with the game period and will argue you down such logic (IMO) they cannot stand to see “any” negativity even the justifiable kind. I do not equate people who enjoy the game as fanbois/gurls I equate them as fans.

And trust me as someone who helped push for Housing its true, it took us a few years many people just asked for it. I started threads about using Housing and the Store to increase revenue. You find a hook you stand on a platform that is stable enough and it will happen. Maybe not soon but having them bring housing has opened my eyes that they do listen to us and try to bring stuff to the game at their pace and ability.

@Yak hey there are people like Samius who find the balance then there are people like me who kinda wait for the next mess up to go “AHA!” now mind you im a bit tipsy now got another pair of boots made for my bard for TOD earlier so celebrated a bit lol. whew took me a few weeks to get two pairs made this is the kind of thing that makes me grumble at Turbine.

I understand the point you were trying to make there are times many of us wonder if the higher ups know what is being done with the game.

I look at it this way they may be gamers they may have never touched a single game in their lives. Its their business decisions I worry about more then anything. I think gamers an give good input and heck even some can make music and art for the game.

But I dont want a gamer running the big business. That’s not going to bring the money in, there needs to be that gap someone who can move and shake and bring in the dough so we can get the stuff we need.

As to the hardcore server and perma death as Ive said for pvp probably not my cup of tea or pace but I think anything that keeps people interested in our game it would be great. But I do think like housing you have to find that plat form then find followers. Now in my housing threads I was faced with the “its a waste of dev time, why add it they will mess it up” all kinds of arguments and you know what? They could not argue with the revenue stand point. when you talk business some get it some dont and I think gamers can be too passionate to realize the business aspects going into a game. I know there is a separation just like church and state lol all I know is im babbling love the show may log on now again or may pass out look forward to the next cast .

Whew was about to go to bed before I checked this I wont lie I have not tried it but thats because I put a lot of work into my builds now I plan ahead how I would like to level them towards cap. Ive heard great things about perma death but I dont think its my style. I like to go fast (within reason not threw new stuff but stuff I know) I like to solo a lot and I believe death of my characters help me pin point weakness that I can work on. To me Perma death is an option once ive burned threw all my projects (currently working on a undying court pally). Im not saying a never ever im just saying I would have to really be motivated towards it and right now not really feeling it.

Now now Yak come on as much enjoyment I get from catching Turbine on stuff, you cant really want to see him blow his top at this.

What makes the game great is that we are not all of the same mentality. it doesnt mean there has not been times I havent grumbled at someone arguing against me in Turbines behalf especially when they are making a point. But I respect that we all do not approach things the same way. I guess that was what was the most refreshing about this cast. There are times you will run into players who do not agree with your views and I would much rather have someone who can counter me without insult then the way some of the more trollish forum posters can be.

And you know what I mean I read that “wall” thread you were in. When they could not argue the logic with you they went to insulting your show, id love to see some of them put one up im sure they would be insta kings../sarcasm.

Point blank is not every player thinks the same and I think thats a good thing, I think its what shapes our community and ironically what makes us so family like. Because despite our differences in wants and the way we go about things we are still pretty tight knit and many new players want to be in that fold and I like that. I hope we never lose that tight knit community feeling either.

And Yak I know your trying your Permadeath but im hoping to talk you into a Fraidnight one of these days. Especially if your shroud flagged but even if your not we hit the following raids, Abbott, Demon Queen, Titan, Vons, Visions of Destruction, Hound of Xoriat, The Devil you know. And we do it drunk I thin, you would have a blast and im currently talking with my guild leader about appearing on your show another officer seemed interested to. The rest were too drunk lol.

Cool Friday nights are our official raid nights saturday and sunday late nights we run Epic thats what I will be doing that tonight. About to take my son out for ice cream but I shall be back
