Did I say level 5? Guess I was thinking Bard’s in my head at the time. Interesting so the flexibility in being able to change spells around is not worth the having less SP points? The reason I ask is I see Clerics changing out their spells all the time depending on the quest. Wizards more often as well. This is for lvl 6-8 quests.

The versatility is better at lower levels because there are more good spells. This is one reason why back in the day when the cap was 10 you almost never saw a sorcerer — the wizard to sorcerer ratio was probably 15 to 1.
These days, a high level sorcerer can carry most of those useful low level spells and most of the good high level ones, too. There’s still some call for versatility there, but is it better than having 3000+ SP instead of 2000, and casting twice as fast for free (sorcerers only)? Probably not. Like I said though, it’s easy enough to fix simply by adding more good spells so that sorcerers and favored souls have more hard choices to make at the end game.

@Ryan: Glad you found it entertaining and got a snack out of it, LMAO.
Also, I looked the official DDO enter for a sorc at http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Class:Sorcerer and it does say this:
“Sorcerers can innately cast arcane spells without needing academic training like wizards. They can only perform a fixed number of spells in this way, but they can cast them much faster and can do more damage over time.”
Here is the interesting part they don’t have a feat called “Fast Casting” or something like that. It doesn’t say how much faster as all other abilities are listed.

They’re about double speed, roughly. Maybe a bit less, but the difference is quite significant.
Warforged self-healing with repair spells is good anytime. Throwing down hundreds of points of healing on yourself via Reconstruct at the upper end is incredibly handy. It’s still good with wizards too, they just do it slower.
High level clerics can heal warforged well enough…but the warforged + arcane caster idea is mainly awesome because it combines the spells of an arcane caster with the healing ability of the cleric (at least for yourself, anyway).

Sorcerers cast spells faster than anyone else. No really, they do.
Favored Souls don’t. They also get 2nd level spells at level 4, not 5.
The complaint that this guy mentions is actually kind of valid. There aren’t really enough good spells in the game to make the wizards and clerics versatility really shine, at least at high levels. I wouldn’t say that this is a huge issue, but it definitely exists. It’s fixable easily enough by simply adding more cool spells to the game for the high levels and making sorcerers and favored souls make more hard choices.
