@Zaal:
It’s most likely due to the datacentre move and your cached information being outdated. As Yak said; open a cmd window (start / run / cmd) and type “IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS” then hit enter.
They also had no redirect from the non-www.ddo.com. (Fixed now)
Turbine could have made sure these bugs didn’t happen with a forced DNS update, etc, but…. Well Turbine doesn’t bother with the little details like that -_-
-
@Abeon I totally agree with you on this and thank you for your comments! I work in the Tech industry and only know how much of a pain a data center move can be. With that said it’s critical that they fucking test the shit to make sure it works before going live in production. It amazes me that Turbine continues to have a Epic Fail in this area. It’s not like this is this first MMO as DDO has been around for 4 years now.

I had to also apply the DNS lookup trick and once I did, was able to hop right in.
Cast thus far rocked! Des, now i understand where you’re coming from… living on a farm, servicing the sheep – legs in yer boots style, leading the quilting bee, living in a country that can’t play hockey, man, all the signs are there !
It’s so good to have a place to rant about the game where virtually, you are uncensored and can really speak your peice – and Des, you’re now the new poster boy for unfettered speach
Anyway, just got past the dOd fiasco so still so much more to listen to but thus far, BIG THUMBS UP !
-
@Yak: Great cast, man! I specifically preferred the second half. As for Gomosh, I dont like him one bit. haha.
@Des: You no good horn tooting uh-uh-uh… Was great to hear your thoughts! The discussion you guys had on the Warforged Sorc actually made me want to play, even though I’m not a fan of the game. Your painstaking, 3 year adventure in creating your toon is a great story, only to be topped by /death count
… well not topped, but a great way to end the conversation. -

Gomosh is good! I like the idea.
I assume Des has looked in his true reincarnation inventory overflow bank? Seems odd that the Docent of Defiance would just disappear. When you TR all of your previous loot shows up in a one-time-only bank slot, and includes an overflow ability.
GM’s should never be able to replace “lost” loot, IMO. Sorry, but I’d rather someone get screwed by missing loot than have people constantly try to scam GM’s into giving them free important loot that they “lost.” I’d rather people get their loot rather than steal it from the game through unscrupulous or gullible GM activity.
That does royally suck though if his Docent of Defiance is indeed lost for good.
I know it’s not a very nice thing to say, but I don’t feel very bad for the people who used the Korthos cheat and a macro to level up without effort. Talk about “easy button.” It’s not that people “did one thing wrong”, it’s that they voluntarily and knowingly engaged in one of the most obviously serious violations of MMO-dom. They played Russian Roulette and lost. Sucks for them, but I’m not shedding any tears. Des gets it, I think, based on his understanding of the violation. Glad to see him still playing! And I agree – the level up process is extremely important when it comes to learning DDO. Every time I see a level 20 who doesn’t know what a heal scroll is I think of that Korthos bug…
I would also describe Sarlona Auction House prices as “f’n ridiculous!” Case of the free market working? Not sure. Very good points raised in the chat.
Jeez, Des, really? Terrorize someone off Sarlona because you personally have a problem with them? Ugh. Makes me sad to hear this. Really bothered me. You know, DDO’s servers are large enough that it’s possible to not group with someone you don’t like. “Making sure that person never gets into any other group ever again” makes you a weak bully, IMO.
I realize that you are a self-described up-front “asshole”, but you don’t know the person on the other end of the keyboard. Could have also been a one-time mistake. Trust me, I’ve been there. All you are doing is hurting the community and causing pain to people who probably don’t deserve it. Were you ever bullied to the point of emotional damage in middle school? I’m guessing not. Sounds like you enjoy playing the role of tormentor.
Obviously I don’t know you, so this opinion is based merely on that bit of conversation you made on the show. Maybe you didn’t mean to present that perception.
I really liked the chat about the “unique” build and not wanting to be copied. It’s an interesting and valid point! I tend to fall on the “information wants to be free” side of things, but I don’t blame Des for keeping his “secrets” a secret after spending most of the day for three years making him awesome.
Good cast!

@Jerry: are you kidding? he lived with sheep on a farm up close and personal like, he played barbie sewing shop with a bunch of grannies, had a 13″ b/w tv when most of had a bigger ipod’s in color, lives in canada where they can’t play hockey (although it’s nice to have our biatches on top) – hell yes he has “emotional damage” !!

In response to Jerry, if the person I chased off the server had only hurt me in a quest it might have been forgivable, but when EVERYONE I talked to said he was worthless and he was screwing up raids ON PURPOSE, thats when I feel it is my civic duty to make surethat no on ever agin has to put up with his nonsense.

I don’t really feel much sympathy for the people who got banned doing the Korthos thing, either. I admittedly have a much bigger grey area for these things than Jerry, but that’s pretty blatant.
I agree with Jerry about the bullying as well. Sinking to their level and harassing them means that you are no better than they are. How many people did you talk to? Could they have been lying? Hearsay evidence doesn’t warrant engaging in that kind of vigilante “justice.”
For that matter, ruining someone’s day by being an asshole is just lame. I never really understood how other people could do this and just be okay with it, but then again I’m fairly empathetic to others in general.

Sarlona is the most elite server on ddo. Many players have been forced to switch servers or pcik up on another game because they can’t keep up pace. Most of these people however are generally very ignorant. We help out eachother as best we can but if someone isn’t going to listen to a majority of a party and waste everyones time speak your mind to them. Freedom of speech with ddo and gaming rules. Yak glad to have met you and enjoy the cast and the talks. This is the first cast that I actually want to be loyal too. I am glad you interviewed one of our servers mst elite players. Seems with free to play we have aquired a lot more trash, which helps him and the rest of our secret group shine
I’m getting so popular I can lead 4 raids, and fill in like 2hrs easy.

I have 3 rules
1. Don’t F@%$ with where I work
2. Don’t F@%$ with where I live
3. Don’t F@%$ with my friends and familyYou break one of these rules and that makes you fair game. I also give the people I do this to plaenty of warning and many chances to prove they were just having a bad day. If I warned you about the consequences of your actions and you still do what your doing, that makes you fair game. I DON’T BLUFF!
Every group I got into I talked to ppl and everyonehad the same opinion. “worthless garbage, better off on a different server”. I always get others opinions about things, since I know I don’t always seethings the way others do (I never really got a gold star on my chart for Plays Well With Others), but if everyone I talk to has the same opinion and I have given my 3 warnings then they deserve whats coming to them. Believe me when I say that is the only person I have run off the server, if you abuse power you will wake up to find you have less of it.As for the comment about ppl trying to scam DM’s for equipment … Thats impossible. They can go back over your character and find out weather you pulled the item, sold it or destroyed it. If you did none of the above then they should be obligated to “refund” the item. If I sell you a stereo in a box and you get home and find out the stereoisn’t in the box anymore are you going to say “no problem, I don’t want to take up anymore of his valuable time with my petty problem” ???????????? I DON’T THINK SO! GIVE ME BACK MY DOD!!!!!!!!!

omg! /death count! Just picked up my daughter (her in game toon named KENDREA) and just before replaying the last few minutes of the cast, asked, “what happens when you slash death?” “you die” she replied. “what else?”, I asked. “You teleport back to your bind place”. So I play the peice for her and her jaw drops! I ask, “but you might have tried slash death count right?” She replies, “well maybe but not in a quest. I mean, it is after all slash death!” – and she’s just 15 and hardly ever plays!

Nice show, Yak. As an EU player I didn’t know there were EU servers until I heard about them on DDOcast. What a joke. During my gaming hours the US servers are teeming with players from EU guilds: Guardiani d’Eberron (sp?) of Italy, DDOpl of Poland, Hungary etc. OK, the latency is pretty high but it’s rarely an issue.
