That quote might work if we were talking about brew. But we’re talking about a community of people YOU wanted to join.
If you wanted an adult community, try not to throw a tantrum, calling Cindy a retarded valley girl, and taking your ball and going home might not be the best way to become accumulated with one.

He joined thinking he could use his voice to make a point but instead you guys a MMO bullshit just said he starting fights when in truth he not even saying a god damn fucking word attacking anyone. Just because you guys get butt hurt over a little comment doesn’t give you a god dam right to to delete everything he said. You can’t even call yourself MMO voices when all you do is let people with bullshit info and complete stupidly control the post. That isn’t a true MMO site it complete crap fest. I see what Cindy said and she sound like a complete retarded valley girl, I said what I need so MMO Voices’ FUCK OFF”.

Ok, “Yak”, short for Yakicus I suppose. Real names indeed.
Funny thing is I’m not even an mmo voices member, I don’t even have a dog in this fight. I just really find your “telling it like it is” incredibly hypocritical when you howl about someone talking down on your flavor of the month and cry out about freedom of speech when you are the first to throw out insults and regularly rag on ddo, lotro, and other games you claim to have expertise on.
-

You’re the one with the public podcast. If you don’t want people involved, don’t throw it out there. Whose nerve is touched now?
But, as usual, you skip the points being made and go right for the insults. For someone who keeps going on and on about debate tactics. You seem to forget the rule that the first person to go for the cheap shot just invalidated his whole argument.
No wonder Samius schooled you so bad. He can actually address real points without throwing a tantrum!

I haven’t yet listened to the Rant yet (am about to) but to make a comment about a few things.
1. He was never attacking anyone on the site, just stating his opinion in his typical “Yak” fashion. Then he gets his posts deleted. I’d be pissed too! Tell you what, man, we wouldn’t have it any other way. 1st Ammendment FTW (even if you aren’t from the US, speak your mind!)
2. No offense, but since when has Yak openly considered himself an EXPERT at MMO’s. He’s good at what he does and has a lot of experience playing a number of different games, but I don’t remember hearing the word Expert come out of his mouth.
People listen to these casts because of Yak’s balls to the wall attitude about certain subjects. Hell, he’s just spouting out shit that most of us in the MMO are already thinking. (Just like Psycho’s – now THERE’s a forum where you can say your piece)
If you’re passionate about something, you will have an opinion. Some people are just more vocal about it than others.
Bottom line is, if you can’t stand the heat of the cast…why the hell do you listen?

Just so stupid, I fear the worse for the MMO world now of days, Ever since WoW allowed people of… how do I put this nicely,… Lower brain power like the guy who who trolling play that game.
All they do is google ” How to be a complete dumbasses when posting” and then just sit there hoping someone will fight with them. Even FF14 beta site turning out like that due to the issue lately.
Eh whatever I’ll go back to console games until the MMO hitler comes and nukes the Post-Challenge-MMO people. lol

hahah. what is the point of being anonymous…all it does is kinda make you look like a douche if you are slamming someone and not even having the balls to add a forum name…*shrugs* what can you do.
That’s some scary shit tho, the stuff you can pull on someone. At least its not as bad as what they did to the WoW developer who posted his name in the forum. They found out EVERYTHING about him.
-
Hello,
It has been a while as I no longer lesson to Yak’s cast. (but that is not the point) However, I was asked about this little drama that Yak has going on here. So reading the blurb and the comments. I will comment on that info alone.
1, It sucks that someone removed something from what I hope is a public forum. It lowers the trust posters have that there comments good or bad can be heard.
2, That said I personally have never seen a forum that didn’t have the option to censer a user. If you post on someone else forum you maybe censored. Yak for example may delete my post. I don’t think he would but he could.
3, Walk in to a government building or a business and begin to say things that are not slightly near the norm and see what happens. People have the right to protect themselves from what they view as an attack. Look at this new Black Panther thing. Did they have the right to yell what they were saying? Sure. But when it attacks others those others have a right to protect themselves.
Don’t ever assume your on the right side. There is always at least two sides to everything. But sometimes you just have to say what you need to and hope that the powers that be will allow it to be heard.
Oh and my name is Samius. Feel free to post my info because I wouldn’t want you to violate my trust in you to leave my info blank if you didn’t like what I was saying. Required, but not published, hmmmm. That would be as bad as deleting my comment or forum post. But hell you have the power here.
-
@Sylvurdragon Exactly man! I am both cautious and paranoid about giving my real info on the net. Plus it’s more more fun to have some mystery to it. Something Meepodm doesn’t understand. Of course I wasn’t asking for the fools real info, just their online persona like the rest of us. I am Yak, just helps me bring out my true self when I am him, lol. If we met in real life, you would see I am the same person. It’s just easier for anyone to open up faster is all.
@Gespenst Can’t wait in a few weeks when you can talk more about the FF14 Beta Bro!
@Sad Panda Yep, yep it is really sad!
-
@Samius You say that you don’t listen to my cast, which I suspected. However, yet you were told to comment here, hmmmmmmmmmm wonder by who. I think that you listen more then you lead on. Ether way I don’t care, hehehe. It cracks me up that you said you don’t listen to my cast. Like if you did you would be getting some nasty disease, LMAO.
However, I can see right through your post. It sounds like it didn’t take the time to read the deleted comments or hear your rant. Reminds me when I was in grade school and I didn’t want to read the story and just wrote a book report on what my personal option is. Hey, at least we both agree about deleting the posts.
-
Fine Yak. I didn’t want to go in to details about my not listening to your cast. But I don’t and haven’t from the one after that 2nd email when I said I would stop unless you made some changes. You didn’t so I stopped.
I have gotten a few emails asking for my point of view and to comment. It is not like we don’t share a few listers. But surely I would lie and play your cast in secret.
No I did not read your deleted posts. Do I need to? Did I comment on them? No I said that if the owners of the forum you posted on didn’t like what you said and removed them that is their right. You are in their house. And what they say goes. If removing them damages the posters relationship with the owners that is a shame.
As for hearing your rant. I don’t enjoy rants not done from a good place I have not enjoied your show in a very long time. And I don’t waste my time on it. Sorry. I tried to leave it alone.
Just stop and think for a second before you fly into a rage filled reply and ask yourself one question. Is breaking a users trust of “E-mail (required, will not be published)†and then publishing it along with the users Ip when clearly that poster is looking for anonymity, not like deleting or editing a user’s posts?
People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. This means we should be careful how we treat other people with our words and actions. Are you any better then these guys at Mmo Voices? I am not seeing a big difference, you both broke a poster’s trust. I hope you can think on that for a bit and maybe see the other side a bit.
-
@Samius If you have not heard my rant or read my posts. Then your opinion is not valid as you have not done your home work and just talking out your ass. I don’t need to be told how to think or act, especially by you of all people. If you are too lazy to read the deleted comments or listen to my cast or don’t care then fine. Until you do I really don’t care what you have to say.

Wow. I guess you win this, since you resorted to terrorist tactics like posting my IP, email address, and town.
So, have your victory.
The reason I didn’t put a name? I don’t have an internet “personality”. No blog, no podcasts, nothing… just some DDO player who regrets not giving up this show when you gave up on DDO. Mistake clarified as of this moment, have a good life.

I like both of you guys (Samius & Yak) so I’m not picking sides. You know I’m all about the 1st amendment, however it may have gone a bit far to post his stuff out in the open like that. Angry banter between the two of you aside, Samius does have a point in that adding the “anonymous” user’s web info may have been taking it a bit far.
While not using a reference name may be a bit of a douche move, it doesn’t necessarily warrant having his MAC address and postal code info being posted on the internet…Kinda like what the guys did with the WoW Dev, like I mentioned. I don’t necessarily condone that type of activity.
You know that a lot can be found about someone using some of the info that you posted…someone could use his host address (based on carrier and network location, i believe) and single it out by process of elimination since the postal code is only for a specific area of Fort Collins CO. If someone really wanted to track him down, they probably could using that info.
I wouldn’t go down that slippery slope, man. I’d delete or edit that particular post…that’s a path to the dark side.
-
#28 written by Sylvurdragon 2 years ago
The point is, man, that although it CAN be found easily, it doesn’t mean that it should be posted openly. Consider yourself as an opinionated portion of the media. Podcasts, are just that, a media source of some type or another. If lotrocast or ddocast or massively speaking posted someone’s city and state that made a comment on their page…they would lose a lot of credibility, as well as potential listeners.
I just don’t want to see you go down that road. You have a good thing going here, in my opinion. I don’t wanna see it go downhill.

I’m going to bring this into perspective here. There is a misguided notion that the issue here is censorship. This could not be more false.
I’ve been a member of MMO Voices from pretty near it’s beginning. MMOV was conceived specifically to provide a community of intelligent and collaborative discussion about MMOs. It was created in the wake of a shut-down Gax, which I never participated on but hear it is pretty much agreed upon to have been the typical breeding ground of flame, trolling, and adolescent bullshit that you see on most other forums.
MMOV has a set of posting standards in place. I don’t really see you as a big rule-reader, so I’ll paraphrase: Don’t swear. Be nice. We have final say.
You were not censored. You were moderated.
Its a simple system and it really works. 1) Braying jackass joins site and starts spewing bullshit designed more to impress his ‘wacky’ personality on the readers than to actually contribute to the discussion. 2) Bullshit is stricken from the record because it violates the guidelines of the site. 3) Jackass realizes this is not the site that he will be immortalized on and leaves. 4) Site continues to thrive in peace.
The only anomaly between your situation and what this system was designed for is that the braying part is literal.
I have read all the comments, including the deleted ones, and I listened to this cast as well as Cindy’s follow-up cast. Only the original comments are relative here. It’s obvious that you only half-read or did not comprehend what was written. It’s also possible that you don’t understand that MMOV is not expected to be held up to any standard of journalism.
So, when you post a demand for sources of facts in a fairly confrontational manner in regards to a post that was obviously speculative, while raising accusations that is was purely fabrication, yes, those are precisely the grounds on which a comment should be deleted.
Also, if you waited oh, say, thirty fucking minutes before running your mouth so you can be the first and loudest heard, you would have seen another post that takes the exact same five points and presents them from a contrasting perspective. It was a clever and creative way to promote discussion about something she is passionate about, which is what MMO Voices is for.
That is why it was considered a personal attack. That is why the comment was stricken.
I’m looking at it in my address bar: mmosmacktalk. This thing you do, whatever you want to call it, I’m sure it has a fine home here. I don’t think that is the case for MMO Voices. It is a wonderful site, you are just poorly matched.
I’m sure you have a few buddies that think you are a comedic genius and that it’s a big ego boost for you, but I’m pretty certain the rest of us think you’re an obnoxious, bi-polar twat. Enjoy your traffic spike, it will not last very long.
-
@Zusker Being moderated = censored. Same thing asshole. You are entitled to your opinion about MMO Voices. I hope that you continue to have fun in that community. I choose not to be apart of a social network that is full of rainbows and unicorns. Ether you are a Yak fan and get me or you are not and don’t. You really think that I would go on some site trying to be wacky impressing people. That is very fucking week. Yak is just him self and I don’t need to act or be a certain way. I am going to be my self and ether people can embrace it or fuck off. Ether way I don’t care. I have my niche group of cool, like minded people and I am very happy with that! The best thing of all is that you think that I am whoring myself to get traffic to my site. I did all of this because the mother fuckers and Voices drove me to this insanity.
This site is my therapy and how I got the poison out of my system. I am not consumed by it anymore. I am now having a blast and feeding off the adrenalin of posts like this. Thank you for the comedic genius compliment, hehehe. I am who I am and ether you like me or hate me.
The biggest kick in the balls to me is that I one of the, if not the biggest MMO Voices fan and supporter of that site. Once I was shown no honor or respect then I knew this was all bull shit. I was not going to play their little game.
The important thing is weather you love me or hate me that you listen.
-
Zusker: MMOV was conceived specifically to provide a community of intelligent and collaborative discussion about MMOs… MMOV has a set of posting standards in place. … Don’t swear. Be nice.
…. Braying jackass … spewing bullshit …
thirty fucking minutes … you’re an obnoxious, bi-polar twat.”You can’t see it can you, Zucker? You genuinely think that calling people twats and saying fucking is not swearing and being nice?
MMOV sucks. It’s a clique. If you’re not part of the “in” crowd any intelligently expressed disagreement is treated as rudeness. If you are part of the “in” crowd anything goes.
Go away you silly person.
-
aw man I don’t get to use my l33t hakr skilz to track down anyone now! I’m very anti-drama personally, but I have been known to get a bit riled up in forums before as well.
I do think it pretty unfair though for someone to come here and knock those of us who do listen to yak regularly and can appreciate what his show is. I listen to a few casts regularly (CTH & DDOCast as well as Yak) and get different things from each of them. I have been considering listening to the brits after hearing them on CTH, they sound like they may be interesting – and BTW Samius, shameless Jak plug, but have you listened to my crazy at all?
Smart move though yak takin down the personal info, regardless of the comments made it was a bucky choice for you to be the bigger man & remove something (I know how you feel about ANY censorship) that prolly shouldn’t have been posted to begin with. And do me a favor & tell Mel to watch his mouth, LOL

Hey yak I read your post and I got my review for her review lol,
Why I hate MMO reviews from people who haven’t even played the game. It just show how stupid people can be. I mean sure you can look up the info and watch videos and have people spread rumors but that can never be counted as facts. We all read info before and gamer god be fold they change it on you or delete what you know was fact. Its a MMO and company will always change something to please the whiners trolling the forums lol Anyways here what I got to say to her 5 fact of not knowingness lol
1. Controls are upgrade from FF11, True the camera movement needs a little worked but hey that easy to fix, No mouse issue at all from the testing I’ve done and I mean if you played FF11,FF12, and FF13 you know how the movement is easily. No difference really it look real at least.
2. OMG there is no jumping what is the mmo world coming too, If I cant jump and be a complete retard I am gonna bash the game and make other hate it.. morons… Eh no jumping whatever it easy to get over I mean it always been a pointless thing, All you can was spam it for use jump to glitch into places ok maybe getting up some hills whatever. Point is so you have to walk around stuff it wont hurt you to take an extra 5 sec to walk around the bench.
3. Just so stupid to use that as an excuse why the game will suck. woo 3 dollar charged. FF11 was the same way and they stop complaining after a while cause you got to regrab all your waypoints and everything else again. This point she use just showed me how stupid MMOV can be.
4. Game will be hard, No fucking shit it Final Fantasy when hasn’t the game been hard I mean what you want an easy WoW mode, “If the answer is YES?! You can stop reading this now and go fuck yourself” “If the answer is NO?!, Then you my friend are a true gamer and will understand why the game adds a challenge to yes who understand the Final Fantasy name. Anyways yes a cute level 2 critter may own you but that cause you most likely suck. FF14 you cant just go out in start killing things to level you got to think oh hey I have no armor or a shield or weapon I maybe need to quest inside town frist to make sure I have a chance to win Like smart people who before they go hiking or camping, Not run into the forest butt ass naked with honey on yelling come here bears. Each weapon is extremely different in that game and some work better then other on mobs It called Tactics look it up.
5. I could write a big review on this one so I will try to keep it short, Yes SE they wanted a dynamic combat, Meaning real combat that look like what our warriors did in real life, None of that jumping 75ft in the air screaming Fire sword slash attack or some bullshit, I happen to like the way the combat is now it show how much they were thinking about if these warrior really had to fight these how would they do it”".but they firmly said this is no action MMO”" thank you for proving the point you don’t belong reviewing MMOs. No action MMO whatever that to me ruin Final Fantasy good name. We want real!, We want turn base!, We want what Final Fantasy has always been!, Not none of this flash move that mean nothing to the mob or the player, Oh yes I can spin and flip but in real truth save me that 5 sec and kill the god dam mob.
Closing comment
That stupid valley girls changed your mind and did a complete review and all the stuff she hated , she likes, People like that just follow blindly to whatever they hear. My point is don’t write or bash a MMO you haven’t played, It not hard to get a buddy pass or a trial.
-
@Gespenst Hells yeah Bro! Thanks for summary of everything! Couldn’t have said it better my self. Also, this is coming from someone who is actually playing the FF14 beta and not some dumb ass spewing bull shit!!! Rock on man and can’t wait to have you on the show and talk more about this great upcoming game!
@Kalaris Yep you missed a huge shit storm!
-
Yeah, dude. Relax. Cindy is one of the most well informed FFXIV posters on MMO Voices and generally a really nice person. What she posted, she did with the intention of showing the flipside in the next article.
Right or wrong, she had the right to post it and you had the right to respond. I don’t think your comments should have been removed, but they were absolutely confrontational — and not in a debating kind of way — more in a let’s yell at each other kind of way. Vehemence is great when it’s appropriate but here it just felt unnecessary.
Here’s the major issue I see and probably the reason your comments got removed: if you’d followed Cindy’s other postings and thoughts on her FFXIV podcast, you would have seen her post for what it was. She took common concerns from the forums she visits and rehashed them into an article in an effort to pro and con the whole deal — in the end, supporting it. She is passionate about the game and, honestly, I think you two probably agree on more than you disagree on.
I guess you would have had to of followed Cindy more to see the post for what it was. Taken by itself, I totally understand how it came across that way. But, unfortunately, Beau and Leala just saw it as an unjust attack on a friend.
Anyways, like I said, I don’t think your comments should have been removed — I don’t think that should happen in any public forum unless they’re endangering other users. Still, maybe that insight will help to expand on the situation.
On another note, I’m just discovering your cast now. I’m downloading a couple back episodes. Here’s hoping for another ‘cast to add to my roster!

@Chris Thanks for the feedback. However, the MMO Voices community is run by a bunch of self self righteousness douche bags! If you have fun over there great. It’s not for me as I do not plan on going back to that site. Yak will not recommend the MMO Voices community and I am sorry that I ever did. Who knows maybe Yak will make his own online community, who knows what the future will bring. I really hear what you are saying but it doesn’t change the way I feel about this situation as my 40 minute rant sums it up.
MMO Voices will do their thing and I will do mine. That will be that.
I think that you will end up enjoying my previous shows as well and I welcome you as a new listener. -

OK, so here I go, for better or worse,
While I stand by my original post, that your style can be SOMETIMES unnecessarily confrontational and thus why drama follows you about, I will go ahead and concede this:
the most recent “copyright infringements” claims made by MMO Voices has brought me over to your point of view. That was unquestionably censorship. And not cool at all.
So my apologies for the following posts beyond the first. My first post was simply an opinion on why drama follows you but the benefit of “two weeks later” pondering, some wisdom from the above posters regarding “the style of Yak”, and now this new dickish move from MMO Voices has (re)gained you a new listener and supporter.
(Just do me a favor and don’t go there again with the email and IP address postings! I’m glad you reversed your opinion on that with Sylvurdragon’s persuasion. It wasn’t necessary to win a debate with that sort of move. The “Yak persona” wouldn’t and shouldn’t go that personal, just keep it to the rantings, man!)
-
- Yak Cast 71 “Current State of the Game”
- Yak Cast 70 “We Review Defiance”
- Yak Cast 69 “Defiance is Almost Here!”
- Yak Cast 68 “Slappy McGee strikes again!”
- Yak was a guest on VPR Cast#115: “Cheaters, Damned Cheaters, and Macroers
- Yak Cast 67 – “Getting our Rage on!”
- Yak Cast 66 – “One Mans Moot Point in MMO’s and Gaming”
- Yak Cast 65 – “Waiting on Defiance”
- Yak Cast 64 – “The Calm before the Storm”
- Yak Cast 63 – “Pigeon Pot Pie”

So the guy whom controversy follows everywhere he goes has more drama. Shocking.
But it’s always someone elses fault, right Yak? It’s ALWAYS someone else and never a character train you might possess.
Time to look internally, Yak. Look back at your MMOVoices history, your DDO Forums history, your twitter, history, even the fact that you had so many “Yak Attacks” on your relatively short history as a podcaster and realize you bring this trouble with you, it’s not there waiting.
