RE the Trackball topic: I use a trackball, a marblemouse, and a naga daily (I alternate between them as I work). I also use all of them in game; however, when I’m serious about owning fools, I use the Naga. Honestly, you do not have nearly the twitch precision with the trackball that you do a decent quality mouse, let alone a Naga. Of course, if you enjoy the trackball, and are comfortable with it, that’s great, but I doubt that you’ll find a lot of world class gamers using them. And Gespent makes a great point re his dirty ballz.

RE the Naga… it can feel small. Totally true. But the buttons on the side up your game tremendously. As your brain maps out the additional buttons, it’s almost like using 2 keyboards instead of 1.

RE buying weapons and what not in D3… you can already “Pay to Win” (gespenst line) with most online games and mmos. I used to sell gold for Shadowbane and EQ2; others were making HUGE bank selling gold and items in UO back in the day. And of course there are the thousands of game related Auction Houses in existence now… so the idea that this defeats the game is false, unless you’re living with blinders on because it’s already happening in just about every game you already play. D3 is actually doing everybody a favor by removing the illicit aspect of gold/item selling and allowing law abiders to take advantage of their own online efforts as well. Realistically, you should be cheering this effort on; you could end up making the game pay for itself.

The only instances where this argument is not true is for BOE items. Barring that, the pixel economy (copyrighted and trademarked that phrase here and now ) is already intertwined with “the real one” (whatever the real one really is).

I thought you conceded the trackball point back when you tested dfo with me… that you thought it might be easier to aim your shots with a mouse. Could be a false/tainted memory, but I’m sure we touched on it. Regardless, I agree, you and Coolit need to throw down.
